This book focuses on decision making in clinical surgery. Clinical decision making is a core competency of surgical practice. It involves two distinct types of mental process best considered as the ends of a continuum, ranging from intuitive and subconscious to analytical and conscious. In practice, individual decisions are usually reached by a combination of each, according to the complexity of the situation and the experience or expertise of the surgeon. This book comprised of 11 sections, which include systemic topics, abdominal pain, abdominal conditions, anorectal conditions, head and neck, breast, groin conditions, vascular, skin and subcutaneous tissue, trauma, and general care of surgical patient, which is further divided into 76 chapters. Topics covered in the book describe a simplistic way to approach surgical problems that will help them in their ordinary work. The simple format and language will make it user friendly. Emphasis is on common conditions that one encounters in daily rounds or the clinic. The approach is mostly symptom-based and not pathology-based. Key steps and techniques involved in several surgical procedures are also discussed. This book is intended to serve as a quick review guide to help medical students, postgraduate students, junior surgeons, or house physicians in clinical practice of surgery.
